Reading for yourself
If you love to read cards for yourself Dorothy created a book which explains over 260 symbols and the cards themselves. Draw a card, take your time to look at the picture and select 1 thing that really draws your eye. There can be more than one thing but if you find yourself picking out more than two things, look at the card meaning rather than the symbols. Why is this great for self reading? In the main interpreting cards for yourself is difficult, even experienced readers find this challenging. Because the book isn't necessary for professional readers or those reading for others it is sold separately on amazon as a paperback and kindle eBook, google play books and smashwords as an ebook. get a look at the book on google play by clicking the link you can download a sample of the book.
Dark Rose Divination Readings
Dark Rose Divination: This is a large deck with very specific direction on each card, dramatic imagery that doesn't shy away from the darker or more difficult aspects of the human experience. With 78 cards the combinations are endless leaving you with clear direction and also making them great for self reading (for the brave of heart.) any single card draw can answer your question without a need to try and interpret the card itself.
Even yes or no questions will find a clear result but also will see the why or how in a single card. This is a 78 card deck (3.5'' x 5.75'' (89mm x 146mm) but that is where the similarity to tarot ends. There are no suits or trumps or any alignment to tarot. This deck is for those who love cards, love reading and like mystery and intrigue. the cards are a little darker energy for excitement, and with lovely graphics a pleasure to handle. There is no book and no book required, no learning or reciting card meanings. You can conduct a full layout of these cards, a rolling layout and much more as easily as single card draws. The directives on the cards are specific but they are not so narrow that they can't be used to create relationships with the other cards.
In recent years there are more and more readers using oracle decks, in shows the competition is fierce with the same cards being trotted out these cards will help you stand out. Their large format and stunning graphics will lend themselves to drawing clients in because they are there for the experience, not just the information. Victorian Tarot: This is a romantic and whimsical tarot deck. Dorothy has transplanted the original suits of hearts, spades, diamonds and clubs in place of the popularized arcane suits. The Victorian Tarot cards carry symbolism in each card that is relevant to a modern understanding while being true to the origins of Cartomancy and tarot as a pair.
This full 78 card deck has easy to identify clues in the images that are easy to picture read so having a book isn't completely necessary although there is one specific to the Victorian tarot it can easily be used with any tarot deck. The key to reading cards is having a basic understanding of the card direction and then using the layout, positions and card relationships to intuit specific information for yourself or others.
New Lenormand
Mlle Lenormand was an inspiration (or should be) to every modern reader. If anyone paved the way for accepting tarot it would be her. In the 1800's she was a revelation divining with her own cards for the rich and famous of the day. There were many articles written in magazines and papers about her which meant she was also famous for something that was illegal. The courage and commitment to her calling must have been immense and her readings were not for the faint hearted. Those who went to her were moved by the experience and the atmosphere which was intimidating to say the least.
As an avid fan I created this deck in the style of the first published deck which was printed within months of her death. This leads me to think she had a hand in the design as some are shown in etchings of the day where she has her picture cards (not tarot) laid down and is using playing cards as extra cards to clarify and define the information. Her readings took hours and would have fulfilled every need of the client wearing their powdered wigs and brocaded suits or gowns. She died of old age so was likely aware of her time limits and left a fortune to her only living relative who refused to take a penny because of how she amassed it.
The New Lenormand is a deck of 36 small cards which makes them great for those who don't like big cards. each card has a clear directive where picture reading is not required, so yes, you need to learn what each card means. More than that the card relationships, which way they face and what flanks, is above or below a card makes all the difference. In her standard layout the woman or man card determines everything with all the other cards radiating out from them.
There is no book with this deck for a couple of reasons, there is so much information on Lenormand cards that you can simply download or look up anything you like. I did write a book which can be used with any Lenormand deck and has every possible combination and a few smaller layouts to help you understand the cards. As they are all about relationships a single card draw isn't all that effective but the relationship between 2 or more cards can be quite revealing and specific.
These cards are for the thinker, the reader that really likes to pour over the cards and work out the intricacies of order and chaos. I have modernized the imagery but apart from that the cards are true to their original creator. Click the link and then click the main picture for a pop up window that will show you the whole deck. New Lenormand
Dorothy has been a taroist for over 20 years having studied under Silvia Shanti Vowless last century (love saying that) and professionally reading since 1999. It is a passion which drove her to start creating cards after seeing the difficulties students had and the upsurge in those wanting to read for herself. Without compromising the tarot she felt there was a need to simplify the cards and bring them into the 21st century. She noticed that few understood the symbolism of the rider waite deck and were interpreting by memorizing the description in books which can be varied and so directive that reading the cards becomes a narrowed field of vision making it confusing or hard to connect the dots.
