The Hermit, wisdom comes from experience, either your own or by observing and learning from others. The value of wisdom is in not needing validation, direction, support or even signs to know that the path you are taking is the right one. This card will often turn up in our darkest hours as it shows the querant that they are doing what they know they have to do even though outcomes are not clearly defined.

When a relationship breaks down or it is time to move on in making a new career choice we are not always at the beginning of a journey or taking a leap of faith as in the fool, but are in a place where we know what we must do if we are to place ourselves in a better or happier position. Life decisions can be made with a wealth of knowledge or we can ignore our own behaviours,. past and the interactions we have with others which all serve to teach us what is right for us and us alone. When we don't follow that inner guidance born of a lifetime of experiences we inevitably have regrets.

Sometimes this inner guidance warns us that we are re entering an old and predictable cycle. sometimes it is guiding us to do something completely different and yet other times we know inside ourselves that something is or isn't going to work or us before we even set on the path and we need to heed that light of knowledge.Seeking counsel and signs can have great value unless one is seeking validation or an excuse to continue down a road that just doesn't sit well in the psyche. When something feels wrong it usually is and nothing good will come of pursuing it. Ignoring our self or blithely continuing in the hopes that all around us will change to give us the very thing that is not available in the situation. The Hermit holds his light up into the darkness to expose. reveal and acknowledge truth while placing ones experience at the forefront to act as a wayshower to move beyond the present and into the future by taking the path presented as correct, even if it feels strange to do things differently.
