Your failure is their success, Weight Watchers alone made $1.8 billion in 2012, they don’t own the food brand any longer so this is just money from members. They sold their brand to Heinz in 1978 who sold on the WW brand and only retained the food branding, what you see in the freezers is big business.
We aren’t done just yet. The Jenny Craig brand was sold to Nestle in 2006 for 600 million and onsold to North Castle partners who are an equity firm. That means they are solidly into making money by investing in companies who have products they can recommend via their other companies. At least they do have a health vibe going on.
